Immediately two of the soldiers were upon him. Talabous grabbed a branch and swung right into both of them. They
tumbled backwards. "Run, Lank!" Talabous yelled as he aimed his bow. One arrow was away. It went into the chest
of one of the soldiers. He turned to run after Lank. Then he heard the hiss of arrows flying past.
Montoovay pulled back his bow and it’s arrow found another soldiers. He fell to the ground. One turned to him with
his bow ready and Montoovay sent another arrow to him. Now three were down. Four of the soldiers took aim on
Montoovay, as he leapt from branch to branch. One by one they fell to his arrows. Talabous pushed Lank behind a
huge fallen tree and turned. Two of the soldiers over took them. Talabous and the soldiers were immediately
entangled. Blows were thrown again and again. Talabous fell back against the stump. He picked up a thick branch
and aimed it straight at the closest soldier. It slammed into the side of his head and the soldier staggered back and
fell in a heap. Talabous swung the branch at the other soldier. He was huge, with dark teeth. He smiled as he came
at Talabous. The soldier grabbed the branch and pulled it from Talabous’ hand. He knocked Talabous to the
ground with a mighty blow of his right hand. Talabous tried to crawl backward. The soldier quickly pinned him to the
ground. The soldier repeated struck Talabous in the face with his massive fist. He grabbed Talabous’ hair to slam
his head against a rock. Just than Lank came up from behind the fallen tree with Talabous’ bow in hand. Aimed and
let the arrow fly. It found it’s mark square between the shoulder blades of the soldier. He collapsed onto Talabous.
Talabous laid for a moment. Not sure if he was able to rise or not. He looked at Lank to express his thanks when he
saw the last soldier coming down on Lank with sword drawn. "Look out!" Lank turned and the soldier loomed over
him, standing for a moment as if he was turned to stone. Then he began falling forward as Lank jumped aside.
There was Montoovay’s arrow buried deep in the back of his head.
